Course Title: Understanding Our Workplace: Policies, Rights & Responsibilities
Target Audience: All Employees (New and Existing)
Duration: 1 Week (Flexible modules, approx. 1 hour per module)
Format: Online self-paced or in-person workshop
Objective:
To help employees understand the mission, ethical standards, and guiding principles of the organization and what is expected of them.
Topics Covered and Explanation:
· Organizational Mission and Overview: Every organization has a mission that guides its purpose. Understanding this mission helps employees align their daily work with broader organizational goals. For example, if the mission is to serve communities through non-profit work, employees should approach their tasks with a service-oriented mindset.
· Purpose and Use of the Employee Handbook: The handbook serves as a guide to the rules, benefits, and policies of the organization. It is not a contract but a resource that clarifies roles and responsibilities.
· Voluntary At-Will Employment Policy: This means that employment can be ended by either the employer or employee at any time, with or without cause, unless a written contract states otherwise.
· General Employee Responsibilities and Code of Conduct: Employees are expected to maintain professionalism, good judgment, and ethical behavior in interactions with staff, clients, and partners.
· High Standards of Personal and Professional Ethics: Ethics involve honesty, transparency, and respect. Upholding these standards builds a trustworthy work environment.
